The fun part of this course is the opportunity to explore the deep. You learn the techniques for diving in the 18–40 metre range and experience planning, organising and making at least four deep dives.

Planning deep dives properly — gas, time, ascent and reserve. Managing your air consumption, which rises fast with depth. Recognising and dealing with nitrogen narcosis in yourself and in your buddy. Handling colour loss and the way light behaves down there.
You also cover the safety equipment a deep dive calls for and how to use it if a dive does not go to plan.
Deep Diver combines naturally with Enriched Air — nitrox and depth pull in opposite directions, and understanding both is what lets you plan a deep day sensibly.
If you took the Deep Adventure Dive as part of your Advanced Open Water course, it can usually be credited towards this specialty.
