Gota Abu Ramada
The most famous site near Hurghada. Exceptional fish diversity — napoleon fish, parrotfish, and massive schools of glassfish surround you in every direction.
Small Giftun
A 15–25m plateau on the south side of the Giftun police station, with a steep wall that plunges far deeper — a favourite of technical divers.
Fanous East
Gentle currents carry you past stunning sea fans and gorgonians. Excellent for drift diving with moray eels and lionfish in the overhangs.
Fanous West
More exposed than the east side — expect schooling barracuda, trevally, and the occasional reef shark patrolling the outer edge.
North Umm Gamaar
Dramatic vertical wall with caves, overhangs, and large gorgonians. A blue-water experience with impressive drop-offs and pelagic species.
Shabruhr Umm Gamaar
Part of the Umm Gamaar complex. Strong seasonal currents bring grey reef sharks. Excellent wall formations and large sea fans.
Erg Abu Ramada
Also known as Camel Reef — a big erg with three peaks on a long plateau, kept in pristine condition by the current. Soft corals, anthias and glassfish everywhere.
Erg Sabina
Gorgeous table corals and sea fans in every direction. A beautiful, relaxed site ideal for underwater photography.
Erg Somaya
Similar to Erg Sabina with stunning coral formations and excellent visibility — part of the same offshore reef complex.
Abu Hashish
Close to Hurghada and ideal for training dives. Look for seahorses, nudibranchs, and blue-spotted stingrays among the soft corals.
Banana Reef
Named for its curved shape, this colorful reef features vibrant hard corals, dense anthias clouds, and excellent macro photography.
Carless Reef
A beautiful wall dive with moderate currents bringing pelagic fish — trevally, fusiliers, and large groupers among the highlights.
El Erug
A cluster of pinnacles home to large, approachable napoleon fish. Great for reef fish diversity and coral formations.
El Fanadir
Famous for its giant moray eels and cleaning stations. A classic easy drift dive with consistently rich marine life and great visibility.
El Minya
An Egyptian minesweeper sunk in 1970, now resting on her portside just outside the harbour. Glassfish fill her openings while lionfish and jackfish hunt them through the wreck.
Hamda
Also called Stone Beach or Lion's Head. A tiny wall drops into a slope and then a stepped drop, with towers, caverns and swim-throughs covered in soft corals.
North Abu Ramada
Northern end of the Abu Ramada system, known for colourful coral gardens and relaxed diving conditions — ideal for all levels.
South Abu Ramada
Beautiful coral gardens, green turtles, and excellent visibility in calm conditions make this a perennial favourite.
Ras Disha
A headland exposed to currents — excellent for drift diving past napoleon fish, schooling barracuda, and spotted eagle rays.
Shaab Abu Nugar
A shallow reef garden ideal for beginners and snorkellers with colourful corals and abundant reef fish in sheltered water.
Shaab Eshta
Beautiful hard and soft coral formations with regular sightings of blue-spotted stingrays and sea turtles.
Shaab Petra
Dramatic coral formations and excellent biodiversity. Interesting topography reminiscent of ancient rock-cut architecture.
Shaab Sabrina
A diverse reef with exceptional visibility and relaxed conditions. Perfect for photography and long, leisurely exploration.
Turft El Shahed
A seasonal site with good visibility and interesting topography. Strong coral coverage and a diverse mix of reef species.
