30 minutes eastern from Safaga is a reef formation looking like an Y which compose with three with each other unite chains from ergs. They are staying on a 12 – 15 m deep sand bottom and they are a nightmare for every average diver which has for the navigation no underwater navigation system. In the north the ergs joining with Tobia Kebir. Normally there are no problems with the weather even when the berths are not so good protected from waves. Stronger currents can be, specially from the east-side.

The two southern erg chains are the best. The eastern one has a narrow canyon at 11 m and a tunnel at 9 m. Have a look but don’t dive through. On the sides growing wonderful white soft corals which can be broken fast if you don’t care about moving of the fins or even through the bubbles from your air. The western erg chain has three channels which are full with coral pieces. This channels you can pass them in the shallow water(4 – 6 m). At the north-end you will find four imposing towers, looking like mushrooms. |

Bluespotted stingray, trigger fish and schools from surgeon fish, bream and bigeye emperor. At the eastside between the tunnel and the canyon there is a big school of banner fish.
