Tobia Hamra

Around 30 minutes outside from Safaga is a longish reef which is bound in the south from a sandy island (TobiaIsland). At the north-end there is a long, flat and stony island and eastern from here you will find the dive site. The reef is going down with a series from hard corals and sand areas until 30 m. Also here you are laying in the protection from Ras Abu Soma. That means no waves and nearly no current. Nevertheless it can be windy here.
Loose yourself in the labyrinth from hard corals and sand areas and try to find the way back. The top rule is, more shallow is better. The best things to see are shallower than 15 m. The north-end has a better topographic and is much more better to dive.
This place will be dived more for the underwater landscape then for the fish life. For all that you will find here schools from bream and bigeye emperor. Stone fish and scorpion fish laying on the coral heads and in the deeper area (30 m +) you have a good chance to find a zebra shark. File fishes are everywhere and this is the reason why you will find shell fragments everywhere at the bottom.
