About 5-6 km north of Ras Abu Soma lays a further promontory, well-known as Ras Umm Hesiwa. Northwest of here towards Sharm El Nagar lies a small reef, which is called Shaab Saiman. A rest of hard corals runs parallel to the coast line and is separated from the main reef by a narrow and sandy Canyon. In the shallowest area, is the Canyon 8m deep and drops off easily in both directions. The crest is flat up to 2m and drops off likewise at both ends into deeper water. Towards the open ocean What is special about this reef, is the weather. Nine out of ten days you can´t dive here, which has contributed to its unaffectedness. Likewise, stronger currents can occur here and they proceed from the northwest to southeast.

Dive here without plan. There are so many fish here, you won´t know, where to begin! Here there is no reason to dive deeply, everything takes place at 15m or shallower. |

Shaab Saiman has everything and, that in excess. Large schools of double-mark snappers and black snappers are at the west end of the reef. Barracuda and schools of flater fish cross over the plateau, the same as schools of nose doctor fish. In the shallow area of the east end of the crest, are one-marked snappers and the largest school of sea breams that you will perhaps ever see! Close to the moorings is a barracuda cleaning station. Sleeping white-tipped reef sharks can be seen frequently in the sandy Canyon and morays and flatheads in large numbers. Since it is very close here to the open sea, there is a very good possibility to see large fish, gold-marked mackerels and eagle rays.
