Shaab Claudia

Shaab Claudia is the second in a chain of small reefs southern the east-end from Shaab Sheer. It has an erg at the south-side which is easy to recognize. At the south-west corner is a long comb with a few ergs, in the shallow area they’re becoming equal. You can dive between them in around 4 – 6 m. The whole reef is standing on a sandy bottom at around 15 – 18 m.The reef is through the northern reefs relative good protected. The current can be here very strong and with a speed around several knot. Sometimes it’s possible to dive behind the ergs.

The reef is small enough to make a round on it with one dive (current provided). We propose to dive against the clockwise. Like this you can dive at the small channels which are laying at the outside comb. At the end of this comb the reef is astonishing and over hanging and in the depth around 12 m you will find some (until now) intact seafan corals.

The current on the east-side seems to be stronger and offered a bigger concentration of fishes then the west-side. One-spot snapper and yellow snapper are here in small schools at the north-end where the current divide up. Also you can find here a small banner fish school. Spotted unicorn fish and bluespine unicorn fish patrols along the reef and turtles, common porcupine fish and different kinds of parrot fish are having her home here. Sometimes you can find also yellowmargin triggerfish.
