Straight northern from Safaga Island and just 20 minutes far away from Safaga is laying a big round reef, known as Gamoul Kebir. In his middle there is a totally round lagoon. In the south there is a long unknown reef and in the north-east three small, colored ergs. Around this are growing sea grass fields. It is possible to come here in every weather and the berths are good protected. Currents coming from north-east and they can be sometimes very strong.

You can start your dive from the mooring through the passage to the direction of the three ergs (it will take around 20 minutes, depending on the current) or you start your dive directly at the three ergs. The boat can go to the mooring to which you will dive. |

This reef is famous for a base looking school (15 – 20) of big barracudas which are 1,5 m or bigger. The school compose with yellow and blackfin barracudas and they patrol around the three ergs or to the sea grass fields northern from the main reef. Eagle rays and white tip sharks you will see them regular and also, even when not so often, dugongs. Around the ergs you will find unicorn fishes, snappers, big eye emperor, breams and scibbled leatherjacket fishes. In the sandy bottom are living sand eels and if you look there very good, maybe you will find a sea moth and sand flees.
